Klay Was Never The Same
Pre-Injury
Klay Thompson was an absolute beast before his injury in 2019. He was top 10 for most three pointers made and had contributed a lot to the warriors offense. He is known as a “splash brother” alongside Stephen Curry. During the 2019 NBA finals, the Golden State Warriors were going against the Toronto Raptors. In game 6 of the NBA finals with 2 minutes left before the 4th quarter. Klay went up for a dunk attempt when he got contact from Danny Green and had an awkward landing.
The Injury
With 2 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Klay landed awkwardly on his left leg, and grabbed his left knee. He then got escorted into the locker room where he was notified that he could return to shoot his free throws where he ended up making both. After those two shots, Klay didn’t play a game until 2 years later. Klay ruptured his ACL. With Klay’s ruptured ACL he couldn’t suddenly turn, pivet or twist his knee. Klay had surgery on July 2nd, 2019 from Richard Ferkel and Neal ElAttrache where he later had to go into rehab to fully heal his left leg.
The Rehab Process
After surgery, it usally takes athlete’s 6-10 months of rehab before the healing process is complete. Klay would start rehab right after surgery where he would have to lift weights targeting his legs using a knee range of motion. Thompson will also have to strengthen his hips, quads, hamstrings and other muscles and bones in his legs. Currently, Klay is nice and healthy on the warriors winning his 4th championship last year and hopefully Klay can play the same way he did before injury.
